Wally

Known to the world as the All-Star third baseman for the Arch City Starlings, he is remembered by Miriam as her childhood friend and brief romantic interest in high school. Forced to choose between Miriam and his "official" girlfriend Rebecca, Wally chose Rebecca. He also married her and completely extricated Miriam from his life, believing it was the "right" thing to do. Not long after that he began what was certainly looking like a Hall of Fame-type career, until, a decade or so after he last saw her, Miriam showed up to a Starlings game and caused a minor stir with a homemade sign. He has been mired in a horrific slump since that time and has deduced that pangs of guilt over his treatment of Miriam a decade or so ago are the cause. He's currently theorizing that a meeting with Miriam might bring him peace of mind, but he also fears other possible consequences from such an encounter.
